Fun fact the name “ferret” is derived from the Latin furittus, meaning “little thief”. Which really make me wonder why the hell we decided as humans to make friends with these animals.
Two of my roommates recently decided to add two ferrets to the household. We are now entering week 2 with ferret friends Roxy and Rufus and I just don’t know if ferrets are pets. When I look at my dog he recognizes me and gets excited when I come home. He plays and craves interaction and attention from me. The love is palpable. I feel like the only thing the ferrets want from me is to open the cage so they can escape.
Can an animal really be a “pet” as beloved member of a household if you have to cage it to keep it around? Regardless…they’re really fucking cute and people have made attachment to far less likely animals like tarantulas and snakes. For now I remain skeptical with my shoes firmly attached because for what ever reason they love to bite toes. I’m sure their weaselly little faces will soon worm there way into my heart.
God dammit….also did I mention cute?
